Racing this Thursday (13th May)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

Well, after an abstinence of a full month, racing finally returns to FRC this Thursday. Things in the yard and garage are still in some disarray, so please excuse the mess. There's a bit more concrete/brick work to be done, so I'm hoping that those materials don't get delivered till after Thursday since they're stored in the garage.

The track will be open from 6:30 PM and scheduled classes are Historic Saloon and Slot.It Challenge. I'd also like to get in some Vintage Sports races if possible. When we tried that the last time we were not quite ready and ended up running just a single race, so if you have a Vintage Sports machine (you should by now!), bring it along.

Now regardless of whether we run two or three classes, I want to reintroduce a timetable for our events. Far too much time is spent with drivers practising and working on their cars, all to the detriment of the actual races which we have to rush through. Quite often drivers have to leave before their class races are completed, eliminating their championship chances. So, here's the timetable for Thursday:
  • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM - Open practice
  • 8:30 PM - 8:55 PM - Qualifying in 5 min sessions by class (up to 6 drivers per session)
  • 8:55 PM - 9:00 PM - Computing grid positions and setting car IDs (controllers)
  • 9:00 PM - Racing starts
Ice Brigade: Alex, Nicholas

On another note, I'd like to ask everyone to try to control their excitement where loud noise is concerned. Granny has just returned from a nursing home stay and I'd rather we don't create any excessive noise which may disturb her rest. In other words, I'm under some manners so help me out.
