Hi Guys,
Our current Restricted GT class regulations stipulate that cars must have a single standard magnet for the particular model, located in a standard magnet position. Because of varying magnets in different car brands and models, several current racers feel that this should be changed to allow the option of a single Scalextric (silver) 2.5mm bar magnet in one of the standard positions in the chassis.
Please vote in the poll above whether or not you agree.

RGT magnet poll
Re: RGT magnet poll
Hey GG - I just voted yes here but just thought of this... Across the Board with any one bar magnet in RGT Class.
Seeing that we may have the option of a Scalextric Silver Bar (25x8x2.5mm) Magnet - Couldnt we use the Gold magnets as well?
As you know, there are Gold Bar magnets that are about the same size... When you think of it, with any one of these (silver or gold) bar magnets (@ any height) located in a standard position wouldnt be a bad idea. The car would have to be set-up right for that height of magnet.
What do you think?
Luke

Re: RGT magnet poll
LUKE IS QUITE RIGHT, LET THE 2.5 BE MAX SIZE, BUT YOU CAN GO LOWER SIZE IF YOU CHOOSE, MAKES GOOD SENSE.
Re: RGT magnet poll
Gordon - Like you forgot to update/follow-up with this poll...
Arden's point is G2G and maybe that's where the big mix up was because the regs remained the same with stock magnets.
The only thing that had me a bit bothered was the magnet in the Audi R8 chassis looked a little to high for a 2.5mm hight. I am saying this because I was racing with the 2.5 in Honda NSX and it wasn't so high looking in the chassis
I did mention it on race night and was told (mind you, not proven) it is the 2.5 but I was still feeling 75% skeptical about it.
In a case like this - what do you think could/should be done about it

Re: RGT magnet poll
Luke (and everyone else),
What if the car is not a Scalextric car and uses a completely different magnet setup? Does this mean that a standard 2.5mm Scalextric magnet can be installed in these cars? Bear in mind that this may involve modifying the attachment method and/or location of the original magnet.

Re: RGT magnet poll
I think that the magnet rule should stay as it is at present. If changed to allow 2.5 mm thick magnets across the board, what would be considered the standard position of say a 2.5 mm Scalextric bar magnet in a Ninco car ?
Re: RGT magnet poll
Fellas,
The way the regs is written for RGT and maybe F1 with bar (25x8x2-2.5mm) magnets - who is going to race any other brand slot car other than Scalextric.

Re: RGT magnet poll
Luke, F1 class regs state a 2mm magnet, not a 2.5mm.
Re: RGT magnet poll
GG - I know that...
The point is - You will hardly find any other brand "stock" slot car with this size/type bar magnet.
