Fellas,
You know me... once I have slot racing on my mind I always have new ideas coming at me. Here's the latest. This has nothing to do with class regulations, just the way we run a particular event. If/when we decide to do it, it won't be for all events or classes. It would be like when we ran the "forced-retirement" race some time ago.
Many of us have multiple cars which can run in a particular class, yet we often never get to race them since we usually focus on one car. Yet, before and after our races, we often have a lot of fun trying these cars out against one another. How about we try an event where it is mandatory to drive a different car in each of the three races for the class? Drivers will not be allowed to drive the same car in more than one race for the class. All cars driven must comply with the class regulations and "same car" refers to body/chassis combination (no simple body-switching). In fact, I'd even say that each car must be a different model so, for example, a driver cannot drive two different Escorts in the class races for that event. He would have to drive an Escort, a Mini and an MGB, for example. This would involve some strategy and knowing the competition in order to decide which car to run in which race.
Use the comments below to let us know which cars (and classes) you have multiple cars eligible for this type of event. I haven't figured out a good name for this type of class racing, so suggestions are welcome.
Gordon
Addendum:
Had a chat with O'Brie about this today and he made an alernate suggestion - whenever we feel to, we can run a "B" set of races for a class which we are already racing that night, however everyone who wants to compete in these "B" races has to use a different car than the one used in the main ("A") races. For example, I can drive my Lola Aston in LMP "A" and my Riley in LMP "B".
Another new type of racing
Re: Another new type of racing
I'm at work at the moment, but here are the cars I can think of that I own, listed by class:
HS - Escort, Cortina, Capri, Triumph TR4A
VS - Too many to list (at least 12)
SC - Toyota 88C, Audi R8C
F1 - McLaren, Brawn, Renault
RGT - Mclaren MP4 12C, Aston Martin DBR9, Viper (2), Jaguar XKRS, Ferrari F430
MP - Audi TT, Mustang (2), BMW Mini
AM - Mustang (2)
GT - Ferrari F430, Corvette
LMP - Riley, Lola-Aston, Acura
Numbers in brackets like "(2)" refer to how many of the particular model I own.

Re: Another new type of racing
Hi Gordon,
cars for which I (or at least Jonathan and I ) have multiple cars are as follows (note: have 3 cars in only 1 class):
HS-Fiat 131, MGB
MP-Mustang, BMW 320i
Rally-Citroen C4, Citroen Xsara, Fiat 131 (same car as HS but with magnet removed)
Maybe we could retain the names of the classes but add someting (eg. 'Special')to differentiate them from the regular classes. We could then have, for example, HS Special, VS Special, MP Special etc.
