RACE REPORT #121 - MARCH 27TH 2013
Hi Guys,
Seven drivers took part in our 121st event for Lambo Series, F1 and Modified Production classes. As planned, we had a short meeting before the event to discuss some concerns with competitiveness of the cars within certain classes, the results of which will be mentioned in a separate post. One thing coming out of that is that the winning cars in our F1 and MP classes were opened up immediately after their final race and examined to ensure that they complied with the regulations, which they did.
Earlier in the week I spent some time balancing the magnetic downforce of the Lambos. In the process I checked each car's magnet outside of the car and was surprised at the variation in downforce between them - all the same type and sized magnet from Scalextric. Replacing two magnets with others from my collection and using shims I was able to get the cars to all have a measured downforce variation of just about 4 gms, much closer than they ever were. This was reflected in their performance on track where they showed very similar characteristics and speed with about .5 sec difference between the fastest and slowest of the seven drivers in qualifying. Despite this, whether by coincidence or not, one car (#3) driven by six different drivers won five of the six races and was second in the sixth. Hmmm.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: American Muscle - 3 races @ 40 laps, GT - 3 races @ 40 laps, LMP - 3 races @ 40 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.
See you on the circuit...
Gordon

Re: Race report #121 - Thursday 27th March, 2013
Good night of racing. I think it was good and all the racers was on the same page with regards to the rules.
It was unfortunate for me to lose the second to last race since I was not doing to badly, however I got to witness something which we need to be aware about. Two racer were desolated during the race on the first corner. They both took their cars and reslotted before the finish line giving them both a lap in about 2 sec. The drivers was supposed to have gone around the table and reslotted their cars in the pit. This gave both drivers an unfair advantage.
Guys lets try to obey the rules I understand that under the passion and excitement one can easily forget and this can happen.
These sort of incidents can cost someone not just the race, but the championship.
Lets all be conscious of what we do while racing.
Alex you raced really well in the Lamborghini series. Good job. You were very consistent.
Gordon your F1 car is working really well.
Steve good job in the Mod Prod.
Guys I am very objective in my way of thinking I don't mean to be picking on any one, just trying to improve the racing, get it to a higher standard and be fair.

Arden ~ Ah feel you saying in other words, Alex should have won the 5th. race and would have clinched the LS class...
Guess we just have to say Hard Luck & Better Luck next time Alex and if you had won that race, you would have made it the 6th. different driver out of the 6 races with 7 drivers present ~ the best of luck next time for Matthew now aka "Mayhem"
Arden I noticed how you didnt say nothing about me & mayhem in your report

My internet has now come back so couldn't respond earlier. Great night of racing as usual, even with squeezing in 12 races and a brief meeting. Great job of balancing those Lambos Gordon. I think the gap between 1st and 2nd in some of the races (a fraction of a second in one instance) was the closest that we've seen !
