Slot car quotes worth listing

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

Over time I've come across several light-hearted (and sometimes serious) quotes related to slot car racing and realise that some are just worth listing on the forum. So, anytime you come across or think up one such quote, feel free to add it to the comments below. To start things off, here's the one I just came across that instigated this post:

On the much-debated topic of motor break-in methods: "Motors should be broken in while you watch the car zipping around your track while you enjoy a beer!"

Now on to you!

Very tactful theme GG,

Here's a personal thought of mines (and now in writing) ever since 2001 for 132 racing comforts:

  • When racing on any track at lightning speeds enjoying beers and friends - no insurance needed, no breath test or lives at risk after any massive wreck!

How this first contribution sounding :?: :D

Another liquid break-in method quoted from SlotForum:

"We use gin and extra virgin olive oil mixture here. 5 minutes at 20 volts."

That gin and olive oil is for breaking in motors ? I can think of better uses for those things- I'd drink a gin and tonic and have a nice slice of crusty bread with tapenade while breaking-in the car on the track (method suggested in first post) !

Steve, that gin and olive oil quote is clearly meant to be a joke. Don't take it seriously :)

Here are two more from SlotForum worth listing:

I don't often break in my motors in liquids...but when I do....it's Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends.

To which someone responded:

The most interesting slotter in the world!

It seems that all the quotes I have found are related to motor break-in... I wonder why? ;)

Two from Slot Forum:
'Patterned carpets contain elves that eat any small parts that fall on them'
'The missus wants to pull the plug on my pocket money. She thinks I spend too much on 'toy' cars. If she only knew!'

This from Mr. Flippant on Slotforum, in reference to Scalextric braids:
"Too bad Scaley braids are made of ill-tempered bat hair. I hate them. I've got a boat-load, but rarely replace worn (or terribly frayed or knotted, usually) scaley with more scaley."

I crack up at the visual image of harvesting the material for the braids!
