As hindsight may have it - its just a matter of time with the NSS & SGTC classes.

The (NSS class) 6 Nissan GT-R Super Series IROC cars.

The cars will now be upgraded from rubber to silicone tyres and all in time for next event in 2 weeks @ FRC

• • Ferrari F430 - 2 pairs Maxxtrac - M21X Silicone tyres

  • Lamborghini - 2 pairs Maxxtrac - M02X Silicone tyres

... believe its just a matter of time these (2 X 3 sets) cars will go on silicone tyres

Understanding the immediate needs for the IROC cars (that are having some issues) and you planning on making a check list of items ... for the 6 sets (997s, Lambos, F430s, Minis, NGTRs and SGTC) of 6 cars.

Do you think it is important the SGTC cars go on SILICONE tyres and maybe upgraded with 21K rpm motors

All in time for the start of a new FRC circle of racing in 2016 ...

The 6 SGTC cars being my personal 132 collection and was happy organizing plus equipping them with DPR Chips to race SSD style at FRC ...

I am now thrilled listing the racing components and cost - that will most likely make these cars a lot more enjoyable to drive ...

  • 6 pcs. Piranha Slot Motors 21.5K rpm ......................................... @ 8.00 = $48US
  • 3 pks. Slot.it SIPS11 Pinions 11T Sidewinder Brass - 6 pcs. ............ @ 4.00 = $12US

The silicone tyres and brass pinions could be the first part of items ordered (@ 48US) and then the 21K rpm motors (@ another 48US) the second part of items - making all possible for the next showing (January 2016) of this class of cars presently raced with rubber tyres and 18K rpm motors.

So glad to mention - I am in the process of organizing the first order from either Professor Motor or 132 Slot Car

Hi Luke,
your enthusiasm for these IROC classes in very evident and I (and I'm sure all of us at FRC) thank you profusely for your efforts in helping to set up and maintain these cars, not to mention the provision of these six SGTC cars. I feel however, that we already have other IROC GT cars (viz. Porsche 911, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari F430 and Nissan GT-R )with motor and other modifications and that we don't really need to do these modifications to the SGTC cars. I find they provide good, close racing as they are and also feel that it is good to have a class of relatively stock cars for unexpected newcomers to be able to race.

Yes, my center of interest are with the IROC cars and if you could remember - for some reason or the other I was the prime mover planning these classes and of course was done over time with limitless help from you and others.

Here are the RPM ratings for these classes and the average lap times they each carry:

• 1. Porsche 997 .......... 21K rpm / 7 second lap times
  2. Lambo Gallardo ..... 25K rpm / 6 second lap times
  3. Ferrari F430 .......... 20K rpm / 7 second lap times
  4. BMW Mini ............. 18K rpm / 8 second lap times
  5. Nissan GT-R ......... 26K rpm / 6 second lap times
  6. SGTC .................. 18K rpm / 8 second lap times

The last time the SGTC cars raced was five (5) months ago (Race Report #194/June '15) and the next time its due for racing is January 2016 which will now make it seven (7) months ... I am mentioning this because on examining the stock rubber tyres back then - noticed they were looking sort of dried out and breakable - which you, me or anyone else will know its just a matter of time they go on silicones and just like how it happened with the other IROC (PC, FTC, MC & NSS) classes.

The chart above is indicating 8 sec. lap times with SGTC cars and with silicones tyres and maybe the 21K rpm motors - lap times could very well be 7 seconds.

So I am just being proactive with this upgrade and feel they will still provide good close racing ... for all racers alike.

Luke, maybe the tyres could be changed to silicones but the cars remain as they are otherwise .
