I'd love to drive on a wooden routed track. Of the Scalextric (I think) F1 cars on the grid there, I had at least 3: JPS Lotus-Ford, Tyrrell-Ford and Ferrari 312, all fitted with the RX motor.
Now this is a better speed for slot cars. Not totally glued-down with magnets, you can actually see that the cars are having to be driven. I would love to drive on a magnet-incapable track like this.
I would love us to have a class for non-mag racing (as opposed to rallying) at FRC and have previously suggested GT cars of any brand but with free choice of tyres and addition of weight. Realistically though, I think that we have enough classes for now. What I would like to suggest however, is a rally car race at our next special event. I know that the cars will slide about a lot and going around corners side-by-side would be interesting. The fact is though, that many overseas clubs race magnet-less, even on plastic track like Scaley Sport (ie. not only routed on wood) and I'm sure that our drivers are no less talented than theirs. What do you guys think ?
