Gordon,

What a great looking car - Its way over wonderful!

I called Ethan to see it and right away he said "That gone clear."

GG, these enticing photos of cars you put on the forum, is one sure way keeping FRC interesting & exciting.

That is a sweet Escort ! I can see that it is lightened by the lack of the vent ('quarter') window in the front door.

Luke those are Minilite rims. Many cars used them back in the '60s and '70s and they are still my favorite rims. They lived up to their name too - they're very light. You'll notice that many slot cars have modeled versions of them.

Steve, it's VERY lightened:

It reminds me of Peter Moodie's space frame Escort that I raced against at Wallerfield back in the day.

I remember Peter Moodie's car with the snorkel-looking air intake at the top.

GG - You showed me this pic (already) way back in the early days of FRC, when I told you (having a racing conversation) about the one time I went Waller Field with uncle & aunt and seeing this same menacing looking car (No.8 Black Escort P.Moodie) with fire coming out the exhaust going into corners & blazing up the track winning races. You also said it was the only time this same car raced in Trinidad.

Looking & remembering - I was 14 years at the time with photo...

:?: Is this the front straight of Waller Field Raceway..?

Well, if so - I remembered, we were standing (maybe) somewhere in that crowd.

Also, to tell you the truth the guy in the brown T's with darkers is looking and standing somewhat like how my uncle does :)

The only thing though - I cant remember how I looked 36 years ago  and with todays menacing looking cars, it seems this car doesnt look so much more...

Nevertheless - It was a mean looking car back in the day and it was a great race day too. So much so, I came home and the very next day I painted with my Scalextric "white" Escort in black with a snorkel looking air vent and all ;) Sorry dont know where it is today though.

Thanks for the memories,

Luke

WTF DIS FOR REAL 2 EH - 3 police suv's just pull up next door and about 10 men in black with guns too - all over the street!!!

WOW - They gone with meh neighbour too :o  :?

Guess ah go find out why later  & wat an exciting way to start ah Friday :|

Luke, try and find that black Scalextric Escort with the snorkel. I'd love to see it. I think many of us used to take our Scalextric cars and modify the bodies, sometimes to help performance (eg. opening up wheel wells to fit larger tyres to improve handling) and sometimes just to make the cars look better. I remember modifying Minis, Escorts, Jaguar E-Types, Jaguar C-Types, Lamborghini Miuras and others.
