Mandatory "One Car" Inspections...

Hello Gordon ~ Here is a suggestion for FRC's racing regulations...
Out of the 13 FRC's classes, there's 4 groupings {(PC & HS) (VS, RGT & SC) (LS, F1 & MP) + (FTC & RC)} with fixed slotcar racing component requirements - How about on these race nights, we have a MANDATORY (Pre or Post-Race Tech) INSPECTION for any one car (eg. by the roll of the dice or the car on Pole...) on the Grid?
I am not implying any one is breaking the regs but only thinking of guys using the forum for the right slotcar builds...

Fantastic idea Luke. This will add another level of interest to the events as well. Let's hear comments from a few other drivers before immediately implementing it. However, I'm all for it.

All,
I don't have a problem with any rules or guidelines set out by FRC.
My only concern is once the car is legal. I hope it is not passed around for everyone to look at gearing , internals etc.
I have seen some persons looking at cars that i built in the pass and are now trying to copy and duplicate. This is not at FRC.
I spend alot on time on my cars and alot of engineering input goes into it. To me. It will not be fair if i have additional weight in a particular area of a car and other persons racing the same car and the next meet their car seems to be handling just like yours. There are certain tricks that you may have that are not known to others based on your research and it works for you. I am not saying to horde information, however one have to spent alot of time on their cars since the competition is getting better.
I believe if a car is running illegal you should have an idea.
Just my 2 cents.

You make a good point Arden. Some things are "trade secrets" and even though legal, should not be open for all to see. The ideal would be to have a couple of people who are not racers but who are interested enough (and therefore knowledgeable enough) to take on this job. There are logistics involved here however.
- Finding two or three neutral non-racers that fit the job.
- Having them available on race nights.
I guess we have to put our heads to the problem.

I agree in principle with the idea of car inspections or scrutineering, but as with many things, the problem is in the implementation. We need to really put our heads together for this one.

Hello Fellas,
How this Simple Solution sounding ~ For a Mandatory Inspection call...
I think because of how our FRC racing regulations is so well constructed on the forum, that any racer with any of the (7 fixed slotcar requirements) racing scenarios on the grid, should be comfortable with the other 5 persons they race against...
We have very effective and different FRC track calls, so how about we have a new offical racing call where there are two to three persons suspecting a car is illegal on the grid.
We can have a Mandatory Inspection call then and there
providing there are two persons suspecting this and a third to force the call.
Maybe, in this way it could offset one's "slotcar" honesty vs "traded" secrets
How it sounding?

Luke,
I would think this should only be on a car that has broken a qualifying time. This should be only be when the time is better than 1/2 sec. Not just because a car is fast. If a car is fast and two or three person cannot catch it they can call for inspection. This is a possibility according to your thinking.
It should only be for breaking of qualifing times by a certain time difference.

I agree Arden,
Coming to think of it... You have a good (spot on or on on)
point
Implementing a
Mandatory Inspection call ~ If a qualifying time record is broken by a significant amount of time, is the best solution.
In other words - On till then (MI call) let the GRIPERS bring their bottles of Gripe Water for the cooler
