Long story short for 2017 - I have plans to set up a somewhat permanent but simple 2 lane Scalextric (analog) sport track on a 8' x 4' table in a spare 10' x 12' room at my home.
The layout will be an easy 16' TRL circuit in each lane and not that it consist of a flyover but because I will be using the R2 curve "crossover lanes" track pieces. Now, depending where these curves are position in the circuit - it should make racing lines equal. The layout will also include a lap (999 laps) counter to add to the racing entertainment.
My daughter is the main reason for this project and because of her knowing about the grand (2000 to 2004) Scalextric racing fun stories at home before she was born in 2005 - have always been asking me - Dad when you are going to put up a track again ..?
Everything (track pieces) to make this exciting project possible are all stored away in boxes and haven't been put to use since 2007 ... It won't be the same Scalextric RMS 4 lane 42' TRL circuit because I have sold and given away lots of tracks and other things over the years but all the same it's a start 10 years later.
Strange enough - It's how I started in the first place for my son and who knows how far it can grow again.
Sorry no pics (as yet) even though I built the layout on the floor ... that I plan to work on in the coming weeks.
Really tried to make this topic as short as possible but that's what it's all about

Re: Long story short for 2017
Hi Luke,
that is fantastic news. It is great that your daughter is interested in this wonderful hobby and that you can encourage her and have fun with her at home on this track. Would be interesting to see the layout.

Re: Long story short for 2017
Luke, as Steve said, that's good news. You'll also be able to test your cars before racing at FRC and elsewhere.
Re: Long story short for 2017
That's part of the whole plan Gordon but its really going to help me to sort out and organize all the slotcar spares, tracks and other cars - I could probably sell off because I have to many bills to pay
Mind you not leaving out the slotcar racing fun at home for Bethany.

Re: Long story short for 2017
Gordon you made me remember two situations, when I asked you these questions ...
If be chance you don't have the time - I will understand.
Luke
- Q. What is a Mod Prod car ..?
A. A car like what you drive to work ...
- Q. Could you install a F1 chip in a Lambo car I could race at FRC ..?
A. You did and I watched what you were doing and the rest is history if you could remember because you even sent persons to me afterwards for this same request.
If be chance you don't have the time - I will understand.
