Fun in the wet

Post by gordon »

Highlights of some of the "moments" in my 42 minute stint with the R.E.V. Tech Honda Civic during the TTASA 90-minute race at Wallerfield some weeks ago. The track was very wet and slick and the car was running on tyres which had been used for two race meetings, one SuperStreet event and a lot of testing in between. Tread depth was about 1/8 inch, really not good for these conditions. Hands had to be real quick to try to catch the car when it lost traction (which was almost all the time), although I was not always successful. Braking was a particularly big challenge. If you look carefully through my car’s left window at 4:40 into the video, you’ll see the Suzuki Swift in front of me doing multiple rolls into the wall. This brought out an extended full-course caution. Video ends when I pitted for Ross to start his stint to take the car to the end of the race for a 3rd place finish. BTW, none of these clips are duplicates - they're all unique.

Some entertaining sliding around in those slippery conditions Gordon and it must have been such an adrenaline rush and very remarkable movements controlling the car ...

Couldn't help thinking - what's that silver briefcase about on your leftside ..?

Thanks for sharing,

Don't know about the adrenaline but there were some busy moments :)
These are just 7 interesting minutes chosen out of the 42 minute session. The rest of the laps (the majority) were a bit less crazy.

That's the tank part of the CoolShirt system we have for the car. It holds water and ice and when a switch on the dashboard is on, it pumps the ice-cold water through a CoolShirt that the driver is wearing under his overalls. The shirt has "veins" through which the cold water circulates then goes back into the tank to be cooled again. You can see hoses going over the edge of the seat to hook into the shirt. It really helps in the car, especially on hot days. Feels like air conditioning right against your torso.

Way Gordon ..!

These are gadgets I can only read and dream about but nonetheless happy to know a guy like you ~ enjoying/experiencing these sort of cool activities :)

Although at a glance (silver briefcase) thought you may have been carrying in it, some of your prized slot-cars for a race :D
