More than 6 drivers at FRC

Post by Luke »

Hello Gordon & concering your WhatsApp message some days ago ...
We have to decide where to split a race into two based on the total number of drivers.

12: 6/6
11: 6/5
10: 6/4 or 5/5 ?
9: 6/3 or 5/4 ?
8: 4/4 ?
7: 4/3 ?
Had to share my early morning thoughts of 2 suggestions ... to help with all the decisions, adjustments & accommodations ... trying to be made with more than 6 drivers at FRC racing events & here is my input ...

Suggestion No.1
Instead of having to attempt 2 groups of racing drivers (with numbers listed above) for the relevant 2-Races of the FRC class.

Simply have the regular 2 Groups of Qualifying Drivers and as choppy-rough as it may sound ~ let the top 6 eligible drivers (Best Lap Times) race.

Suggestion No.2
Now if there's another group of 6 (or even 5, 4, 3 & 2) drivers with good enough BLTs (107% rule) and of course, know you would like all persons to have a good time at Digital Racing Competitions 8-)

Let those other drivers race the Race 2 and could even reflect as Teammates ... with the final results ~ example:
  • GT Class:
    Controller 1
    Race 1 ... Gordon / McLaren MP4 12C
    Race 2 ... Driver / Model Car

    Controller 2
    Race 1 ... Steve / BMW Z4
    Race 2 ... Driver / Model Car

    Controller 3
    Race 1 ... O'brie / McLaren F1 GTR
    Race 2 ... Driver / Model Car

    Controller 4
    Race 1 ... Peter / Porsche 911 GT3
    Race 2 ... Driver / Model Car

    Controller 5
    Race 1 ... Ian / Nissan R390 GT1
    Race 2 ... Driver / Model Car

    Controller 6
    Race 1 ... Keith / BMW M1
    Race 2 ... Driver / Model Car
Know there will be Pros & Cons even Scoring Sheets to be designed to idea ... but sure it's worth having a read ;-)
