24+ Years ...

Post by Luke »

A simple and personal timeline/journey ... me at 7 years of age to present day with all the different slot-car activities :D
  • 1970 - 1971 ... Got my first Scalextric 300 "Rally Cross" Set (item no.C579) on Christmas Day ..!
  • 1976 - 1977 ... Raced with friends on a (home built) figure-of-eight 4-lane circuit.
  • 1999 - 2000 ... Bought my Son (at 4 years) his first Scalextric "Rally Racing" Set (item no.C1033) for Christmas Day ..!
  • 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 ... Raced with family & friends on a (home built) figure-of-eight 4-lane circuit.
  • 2009/FRC, 2010, 2011/TSCC, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016/RAS, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 ... and now 2024 ;)
Other than a row of 24 (1999 to 2022) consecutive years - it's (about half my life and) a next list too long to record 8-)

Nearly half your life. So I think you should get back into slot racing!

Gordon,

Since April 2009 at FRC ...

I've always known you to be very supportive to many ... with ALL slot-car ventures and clearly you're still ... to this April 2022 day ..!

I personally thank you a whole bunch for such a grand support and I will be more than happy ... to be helpful in any other way with your slot-car FRC arena.

However, sorry how I hardly participate at events (anymore) because I've really lost all thrills for slot racing be it Digital or Analog.

To help clear up any thoughts why ... here's a short story about myself ;)

In my teenage (even earlier) days to late 30's - which is (about) another 24+ years - the sport Cricket was a great & overall pastime for me ...

I was even a founder/member of a cricket club (1999 to 2002) named Allrounders & believe still around today.

That said ... by late 2002 I remembered starting to lose interest in cricket and eventually dropped out club.

I have stayed in touch (now & again) with club plus (on a separate note) watched a few televised & international games but not to any great extent like years gone by because ... practically lived in the Queen's Park Oval at many games - that years after - was given a FREE ticket to see a Finals.

Guess what I end up doing with the ticket :D

Concerning the topic above:

Check out my allegiance with the (start of) Allrounders Cricket Club ... from 1999 up to 2002 - 03 years.

Weighed in against - first-time at the FRC SSD Arena ... mid 2008 right up to 2021 - 13 years and counting ...

Although I do not race as much anymore - its an exceptionally long time with the slot-car life 8-)
