Guys,

TTASA did a wonderful job getting the old Wallerfield circuit in shape for last Sunday's race meeting in record time. From all accounts the racing was not too shabby either. In fact it looked pretty good in the videos I saw, including this one between Franklyn Boodram's Renault and a Guyanese Lancer Evo (not sure if the Renault driver was Franklyn or the French pro driver who came down to help look after the car):

After watching several laps of the race, my money would have been on the Evo to win had the engine not let it down a lap or so before the end.

It sure was good to see circuit racing going on at Wallerfield once again!

4WD vs 2WD ! The Evo was clearly better at getting the power down early coming out of the bottom corner.

Hi Guys ,i was invited to do the commentary for the event, the meganne is owned by Franklyn both Franklyn and Franz drove the car in testing on sat evening, Franklyn was in 45 sec per lap and Franz layed down a blistering 41.6 so that might have settled who will drive on sunday, since earlier in qualifying the GUYANESE RX8 DID A 42,8 RUN THINKING HE HAD POLE, Franz V . his last name starts with a v and is hard to pronounce is from holland he is a Dutch man at 67 yrs and loves racing, however on race day the race with the evo the car won but its other wins for the day was not allowed because of a weight error by the officials , causing the car to be underweight, this was quite unfortunate for the speedway team. but its racing.

Gordon,

That was really great racing. That race was fantastic and I had and my money to on the EVO too. Too bad he broke his gear box, but that was pressure from the Megane. These cars are a different breed from back in the days, power, handling etc.. These cars are so much more advance and parts are so readily available. Can you imagine driving one of those machines? You will be smiling from ear to ear.

Ramesh - Right away I recognized your distinguish voice during that intense race - have to tell you though, I went to Car Boutique on Monday (for a bottle of Redline fuel & injector cleaner - for my Nitrogen filled tyres car hehe) and the first thing Herbie asked when walking to the counter, was if I have Gordon's number? Gave him because I know they know each other well. He said he wanted to know why he (GG) wasn't at WF - told him I think he was down the islands for the weekend and he still looked at me like how come Star Boy Racer GG wasn't present and said he have to call him ... Kind of wondered whole day if Herbie did end up calling Gordon - you on the other hand Ram - I asked if he knew you and boy that started up a whole set of talk again. To make a long story short - you are a Star Boy too because he told me how you always do such a great job with the commentary. He said when listening to you, you make it sound like yuh racing too.

I also informed him, how you do the same great job at TSCC & FRC :)

Luke, yes, Herbie did call me soon after I got into the office on Monday morning. We had a nice chat about the races at Wallerfield. I have to admit, I've been thinking a lot about how enjoyable it would be to do some car racing again. But that's more a fantasy for me than a likelihood. I do hope though that circuit racing catches back on here, of course once we are able to have a permanent racing facility.

Well GG - that look Herbie had, meant he was very serious about giving you a call and I'm glad it turned out the way it did ...

Out of curiosity - do you have any sort of (old or new) WFC track plans :?:

Yes, the vid was quite clear with cars racing the shape of track but believe it would be (somewhat) cool, to see a track plan layout. Sure you will understand & remember the one with - Barbados 'Top Gear' track plan ...

No fuss if you can't or don't have.

Luke

BTW - the person racing that EVO, looked like a great (Alonso style) racing driver holding the best racing line, so long for that lead ent :D
