Hello All,

This has to be a record - not a single thing posted since last week :/

All the same, here's some of my thoughts looking over (and certainly not the last) of the FRC MGT Events ...

I can safely write, that this type of event was first devised by the diversity of Ramesh and Gordon's racing days, which was explained by Gordon - 22nd. April 2013. A few days later, (25th. April 2013 - Race Report #124) this event was tried out for the first time. Sure all who took part, will agree like me - that this is one of the most competitive, strategic & entertaining styles of slot car racing there is around and its even here to stay :)

Having written about this kind of racing - here's a list of the 6 events done (in 16 months) and the Winners:

1. Race Report No. 124 - MGT ................. 25/4/2013 ........ Steve
2. Race Report No. 152 - MGT Teams ...... 30/12/2013 ...... Nicholas E. and Keith Aqui
3. Race Report No. 153 - MGT ................. 16/1/2014 ........ Gordon
4. Race Report No. 160 - MGT ................. 27/3/2014 ........ Luke B.
5. Race Report No. 168 - MGT ................. 26/6/2014 ........ Ramesh/Luke B.
6. Race Report No. 175 - MGT ................. 28/8/2014 ........ Luke B.
7. Race Report No. 188 - MGT ................. 19/3/2015 ........ Ramesh

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, the (summarized) methods organizing for racing competitions with the amount of persons present @ FRC:

Drivers submissions for the Mixed 'IROC' (PC, LS & FTC) GT or the Team Challenge Events ...

6 Persons - No Teams - 1 Driver ....

1. Drivers will roll a dice to select a car/controller for qualifying as usual.
2. Each driver will decide which car to qualify - the Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari relating to the number he rolls.
3. Grid/controller positions for the first race will be decided based on qualifying positions as usual.
4. Drivers will rotate to the next controller for each of the six races.
5. For each race, the driver decides which car he will drive for that controller position - the Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari. Each driver can only drive each type of car twice.

6+ Persons - Three Teams x 2 Drivers + Third Driver Subs ...

1. Qualifying: Roll of a Dice or FRC's normal QT Regs. - Methods 1 or 2
2. Drivers/Team Selection: 1 & 4/A - 2 & 5/B - 3 & 6/C from qualifying.
3. Grid Position: ... cars will be gridded based on their drivers' QTs ...
4. Drivers Station Controllers/Team: ~ 1 & 2/A - 3 & 4/B - 5 & 6/C ~
5. Third Driver Substitutions: More than 6 less than 12 drivers - based on the FTC competition Regs.

12 Persons - Six Teams x 2 Drivers & No Third Driver Sub ...

1. Qualifying Teams - Play-offs: FRC's normal QT Regs. ~ Method 1
2. Team Selection/Drivers No.1&2: ~ A/1 & 7 - B/2 & 8 - C/3 & 9 - D/4 & 10 - E/5 & 11 - F/6 & 12 ~
3. Driver Station Controllers/Teams: ~ 1/A - 2/B - 3/C - 4/D] - 5/E - 6/F ~
4. Qualifying Teams/Driver No.1: ~ Teams: A, B, C, D, E & F ~ A model of choice (997, Lambo or F430) raced by the first 6 drivers.
Racing Commence:
First Race - Drivers No.1/Grid Positions: Each driver picks out a (997, Lambo or F430) car of choice which will be positioned on the grid, based on their drivers' QTs ...
2nd. Race - Drivers No.2/Grid Positions: ... car of choice will be positioned on the grid, based on finishing positions of the previous race.
3rd. Race - Drivers No.1/Grid Positions: ... car of choice will be positioned on the grid, based on finishing positions of the previous race.
4th. Race - Drivers No.2/Grid Positions: ... car of choice will be positioned on the grid, based on finishing positions of the previous race.
5th. Race - Drivers No.1/Grid Positions: ... car of choice will be positioned on the grid, based on finishing positions of the previous race.
6th. Race - Drivers No.2/Grid Positions: ... car of chioce will be positioned on the grid, based on finishing positions ...
5. No Third Driver Substitutions: ... Note ~ Each driver must use a 997, Lambo & F430 car once and can be raced in any order.

Looking at these summarized methods, hope all understood and at our next MGT meet - A Team Event is long over due :D

Hi Luke,
thanks for that information. I haven't gone through all your permutations and combinations but must say that this class (Mixed GT) is one which I enjoy very much.
Looking forward to the next event at FRC.
Steve

No problem Steve,

Its a pleasure :)

When you do go through the permutations & combinations info above, you may also realize that this is your 4th. 'First Time - Win' with racing events held @ FRC. Its a neat record you hold as a good slot car racer. Let me know if the info was easily explained or if it needs to be revised. I asked this because I had Gordon {9/1st. Time Winner} listed as the first person (for this event) to win in the original FRC "First Time" Winners post. I made the correction (sorry 'bout that GG) and didn't remember that this exciting event (MGT) was held so far back in 2013.

Actually, its with this post I realized the error with that post (capish) and I end with this phrase - We live and learn ... :D

The object here, is trying to cut down on too many variations with this type of event ~ for all to enjoy.

Check the  12 Persons - Six Teams x 2 Drivers ... and think that, that option is SPOT ON :)

The other two options (6 Persons - No Teams - 1 Driver & 3 Teams x 2 Drivers) could still do with some adjustments ...

Remembering Alex & Gordon's post at the same time ~ Its kind of difficult keeping track (when brain cells firing a mile per minute) for each person driving each type of car twice trying not to add the extra complexity for this sort of event.
