Track maintenance work at FRC

Post by gordon »

Guys,

I spent Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday doing some much-needed work at FRC. Thanks to luke for coming by and helping for an hour or two on Saturday. Here are some pics of some of the work donw:

Patched fence going up the hill from turn one. The green fencing was replaced from its beginning at the end of the start/finish straight all the way to where it ends near the top of the hill:

The small torn piece of fencing at the top of the hill was also replaced:

The corner at the end of the downhill back straight (formerly called "Island Hobbies" corner) had some work done on it too, including replacing the inner fencing closer to the exit of the corner. We also got some new Mobil 1, Vodafone, Fosters and Santander sponsorship:

A new tyre wall was added to the outside of the hairpin bend that goes around Caiman Pond:

Some new wildlife was added to the crocodile hunter reptile sanctuary in Caiman Pond:

The man himself bravely posed with the gators:

Additional Martini, Marlboro and Santander sponsorship shows at the final turn where the green fencing was also replaced. One of the sponsored sections is an extension of the wall on the exit of the turn where cars have been known to scale the original lower wall:

The bent and broken fencing, much of which leaned inwards has been straightened and repaired:

The broken Armco barrier on the exit of turn one has been replaced and anchored to the table with brass shafts:

In addition, some of the trees were re-planted and have sprouted some new foliage.

Finally, the two white walls - the one at the start of the back straight and the other on the following corner are soon to acquire new sponsorship.

Hope you like and appreciate the work.
