Guys,
Check out this new Group 5 machine from Racer. Its perfect for our Modified Production class and, being from Racer, its guaranteed to be quick:
Zakspeed Turbo Capri:
This one's now available for purchase and they've got more liveries coming.
So, who's going to be the first FRC driver to get one?

Hey Gordon,
You posted this car/topic (16 th.July 2012) and look how Peter was racing one like it in the MP class almost one year (18th.July 2013) to the date
Note the time posted too - we started racing the MP class about 2 hours after that time...
Two Days - Two Hours
Its like Peter planned this systematic arrangement with time to race his Capri

Nice looking car. Not so sure I'd be comfortable with that angle winder set up though.

Luke, that's very observant of you. Interesting. Of course Peter's was a Fly and this one's a Racer.
Steve, it wouldn't be good for our MP class in sidewinder configuration or perhaps in any configuration using a Slot.It-type motor pod, all because of the MP magnet location stipulation of being ahead of the rear tyres.

Gordon,
Is this a mod prod car?
This reminds me of Wallerfield Days GTU. Box flares, lowerd suspension, etc

Would be nice to see someone bring out an IMSA-type RX7 (Tanko Baboolal ? ) to match this Capri (although I'm not sure whether an RX7 would be eligible for Mod-Prod.).
I believe that Racer is bringing out a BRE Datsun 240Z or 260Z which would be another stunner.

Steve,
A standard Capri, RX7 or 240z I can see as a mod prod. Not a car with box flare, lowered suspension, etc.
Gordon lets hear your views.

Hi Arden,
I think that the 'box' flares, lowered suspension and so on are fine for the MP class. Remember that this class is for modified cars, not standard saloons, as in our HS class. Even some of the HS class cars are replicas of saloons that were very heavily modified to race ( eg. Scaley Holden Torana which had a small block GM V8 in a Viva-sized car, Scaley Escorts with their 270 horsepower BDA engines, SCX Fiat 131 which had a highly developed 2 litre engine just for the then equivalent of WRC-which it won twice, SRC Capri which had a 2600 cc V6). If these flares and such were not allowed, we'd end up with the MP cars looking just like the HS cars.

Steve,
It is my understanding from Gordon that the cars in this class should be one you drive to work.
I stand to be corrected.
Steve will you drive that Capri to work?

Guys,
This car can technically run as either an Historic Saloon or a Mod Prod car, as both classes are based on production cars. The main difference between these two classes from the type of car point-of-view (the body, not what is or isn't allowed in each FRC class) is that Historic Saloon cars are supposed to be cars from the '60s and '70s, maybe even the '80s, whereas Mod Prod allows any car based on a production car right up to current models. I would exclude DTM cars from either class as this is a rather more specialised class of racing, just as NASCAR cars are specialised.
