Modified Production class proposal

Hi Guys,

I know that we have a lot of classes, but we also have a number of cars that don't qualify for our existing classes. With this in mind, I'm proposing the following new class:

Modified Production

1. Body must be modeled after a non-GT production car.
2. Motors limited to 30,000 RPM maximum, based on manufacturer's specifications.
3. Only Scalextric F1 chips will be allowed.
4. Any magnets, braid, wheels, tyres and gears may be used.

Examples of cars currently owned by FRC drivers include Brent's modified Escort, my open-cockpit Cobra, my Vauxhall Vectra and my modified BMW Mini. I know that others have cars which will qualify for this class.

Notice the restriction to the F1 chip. This is to try to prevent a repetition of the all-out open classes we now have (AM, GT, LMP) by builders having to strike a balance between motor, magnets and chip. If you put too much pressure on the chip, you'll blow it!

We are already getting the Lambo class soon (I received all six chips today and already have 3 or 4 motors and all the tyres), so another class will help us rearrange the class groupings into a four-group cycle instead of the current three-group cycle.

I was discussing this with Kyle an hour or so ago and we've come up with an idea to further refine the class and differentiate it from our fast classes. We'll simply add the requirement listed in red below:

Modified Production

1. Body must be modeled after a non-GT production car.
2. Motors are limited to 30,000 RPM maximum, based on manufacturer's specifications.
3. Only Scalextric F1 chips will be allowed.
4. Any magnets, braid, wheels, tyres and gears may be used, however all magnets must be positioned ahead of the rear tyres when viewed from the bottom of the car.

The idea here is to have some limitation on the effect of magnets, as opposed to our open classes which have no such limitation. We all know that magnets under the rear axle give the best results.
