FRC circuit section names

Hi Guys,

Racing at FRC is always as hectic as it is fun to do. Sometimes though we all have a de-slotting moment and scream out the standard "TRACK!" call to inform other drivers and marshals of our dilemma. One of the problems though is alerting everyone to exactly where the car is stranded. We have common names for one or two parts of the track, but many others remain unnamed. To this end, this post's objective it to put an end to this problem by naming each section and you all have an opportunity to participate.

Here's a diagram of the track with numbers identifying the corners (in red) and straights (in yellow). On the right of the diagram I've listed the names we already use as well as some pretty poor suggestions for the currently unnamed sections:

So below are pics of each part to remind you of the section in question and give your imagination wings in making suggestions for suitable names (drink a Red Bull first, right JP? ;) ) :

When making suggestions, simply copy the following code into your response then insert your suggestions after the dashes:

Code: Select all

1,2,3 -

4 -

20 -

5 -

6,21 -

7 -

8 -

9,22,10 -

11 -

12,13 -

14 -

15,16 -

17 -

18 -
OK, so now let's get your imaginations working to come up with decent names.

GG - You did a great job with the pics showing all around the FRC circuit in order...

Also, the names that you say are some pretty poor suggestions - I personally will have to disagree with you. They are all very creative and suit all the sections of the whole layout. In time, these names could/may change but not in the near future... Although, if I only had one corner to name over - it will be corner number 17 (my favourite number btw) and just find where this corner is should be a little more important by name...

How about: Control Tower Corner 8-) and we all know that No.19 is the Front Straight :D

Luke

ps: To all FRC's F1 fans - Have your favourite drink tonight for Fernando Alonso's 30th Birthday today (29/7) and I wish him a 1st. PLACE VICTORY in the Hungarian GP this weekend.

Remember now - you heard it here first... ;)

Gordon - I have a suggestion with for this circuit (sections) map of names...

Have it put with the FRC Rules & Class Regs for everyone to see and learn about the circuit sections.

BTW ~ In the 2011 Hungarian F1/GP Jenson Button finished 1st. place and Alonso came 3rd. and was still almost a great B/Wish spot-on :D

How about these changes:
 • 4 - Bridgestone Corner
 • 5 - Fosters
Some of the other names are lame and we need suggestions.

Hi GG,

Could I ask, if you could print a copy of this FRC track diagram (above) with the circuit section names at the side plus the suggested "new" name changes for number 4,5, 17 & 18 sections.

4 ~ Bridgestone Corner
5 ~ Fosters Bend
17 & 18 ~ Control Tower Corners

This is info I will be glad to get laminated & think it would be a good feature to have up, that can be seen by all ... It will be easy for everybody to familiarize themselves with the names of the track sections, when making a TRACK CALL and saying which part of the circuit its on too ...

If you wish, I will remind you about this and also think this suggestion (Track Section Names) will go down well with the 2 Hours Endurance event.

What you think?
