Cartrix cars on a scenic track

Post by gordon »

Guys,

Check out this track with two Cartrix '50s Grand Prix cars circulating:

Notice the more realistic speed of the cars. In fact they're still faster than they should be in the corners, but a lot slower than what were largely accustomed to. Wonderful layout too... check out the original Scalextric old-style railings. These are what I first remember seeing at O'Brie's track at his house when we were boys.

Cartrix are known for these type of cars. In fact they don't make any other type and they're usually not raced with magnets. I'd love to have such a class at FRC one day.

Lovely scenic layout Gordon. I very much think that the realism is heightened by the much slower speeds than currently apply to FRC classes. I also would love to race such cars at FRC but think that chipping them would be a challenge. I still think that our Historic Saloon class, run without magnets, or with adjusted magnet positions (as suggested some time ago) , could replicate some of the realism seen here.

Steve, I would like to see something like that implemented in HS next year. We did not make any changes to the HS rules for 2016, so we can look at adjusted magnet positions next year.
