Between work on Saturday, grandchildren who came to visit for the weekend and watching the recorded F1 race after they left, I only got to start working on my cars for this week's racing at around 5 PM yesterday afternoon. The last car I worked on was my new F1 project car, having received various parts I had ordered for it last week. Here's what my busy workbench looks like when putting together a brand new car comprising components from multiple different manufacturers:
There's more stuff spread out below the table surface too. Its amazing the number of little things that have to be tried and modified to get it all to work and this is the prototype/initial configuration. I'll still have to tune it and make changes and adjustments as we start racing with the new regs next year. Components so far include parts made by:
- AllSlotCar
Sloting Plus
Slot.It
SVQ Slot
Shapeways (Olifer)
Quick Slicks
Scaleauto
Piranha
Professor Motor
Slot Car Corner
I haven't chipped it as yet but it will probably be a Scalextric F1 chip, adding another manufacturer to the list. Here's a close-up of it as I packed up after 9 PM last night:
The car complies with the regs I proposed
here. I hope to have it running for Thursday to test.
