New event type

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to have an upcoming event where we classify cars based on two simple criteria - car type and time bracket. I've identified the following car types (current classes which fit each category are listed in brackets):
  • Production (Historic Saloon and Modified Production cars)
  • Sports Cars (open top GT, Restricted GT and Vintage Sports cars)
  • GT (GT and Restricted GT cars)
  • LMP (LMP cars)
  • Open-wheel (F1 and Indy cars)
Once cars have been placed into one of these categories based on body type, everyone qualifies and class races will be based on qualifying times within each category. The fastest six times in each category will qualify for subgroup A, next six subgroup B, etc. Its basically a variation of our original time-bracket event (here's the race report), except that this time cars are first split into categories by body type.

What do you think about this?

This sounds interesting. You may need to bring out your race management system to make sure that variances between race and qualifying lap times are within a certain amount (say 10 % ?) . How many laps are you proposing per race ?
