Guys,
I spent the whole day today rebuilding my Mod Prod 1968 Mustang from the ground up to be ready for our upcoming American Pony Car class and here she is, fully legal and ready to go:
The rules require that the original wheels, axles and axle gear be used. Also, front tyres cannot be less than 17mm mounted, rears 19mm mounted and the full original interior must be in place. The reason for these requirements is to keep the cars looking like the originals of the era and I think they look beautiful like that. My workbench got pretty busy as the day progressed, constantly changing as I needed space to do something different:
As required by the rules, the tyres are not visible when the car is viewed from the top; original chassis has been slightly modified to fit the magnets and chip; full interior including full driver is in place; motor is rated at 20k; standard axle gear is installed; magnets are placed ahead of the centreline of the guide flag pivot point and the rear axle; wheels and axles are original; front tyre diameter is 19mm, rear is 21mm. Finally and very important, car obeys the USD rule.
Let's see how it goes in testing this Thursday.
