New Slot.it motor

Post by steveaca »

Saw on Slot Forum that Slot.it has released two new cars, being new liveries of the Lancia LC2/85 and the Porsche 962. What's interesting about these cars is that they come with a new motor, the V12/4, a red endbell unit which Slot.it rates at 23,000 rpm. When questioned about it, Slot.it's Maurizio says that other than the manufacturing process and colour of the endbell itself, the motor is the same as the previous orange endbell V12/3. He says the new 23,000 rpm rating is the correct one for the motor and that the 21,500 rpm rating for the V12/3 is incorrect !

Just today I saw Pendle advertising an upcoming Slot.It Porsche 962 and what caught my attention was the same 23K spec motor. I was thinking that it's a brand new motor till reading your post Steve. Well I know that it's new but I never would have thought that the orange end-bell we've been using for so long is rated at 23K. My tests over the years do not show this. All right, one or two motors have hit the 23K mark, but the majority are below this. I think that Maurizio is pulling the woll over everyone's eyes.

In addition, Pendle indicates that this new 962 comes with a 0.5mm offset sidewinder pod. All previous Group C Slot.It cars came with an inline pod, as far as I know.

DI didn't notice the sidewinder pod specification. I wonder if it's really so or if that was a typo.

Hi guys with reference to the slot it motor the orange and rusty brown is 21 .5 , yellow is 25 and red is 29, however this new bit of info can cause confusion ,since red cannot be both 23 and 29 , i suggest that red end bell motors should not be used at this time . as a 23 spec motor.

I agree Ram, unless there is a clear way of differentiating the 29K from the 23K.

One would think a simple solution could have avoided this misleading & confusing info.

FC130 motors V12/3 (rpm rating) end-bell drive colors.
  • • White ............ 19.5K rpm
    • Orange .......... 21.5K rpm
    • ..................... 23K rpm
    • Yellow ........... 25K rpm
    • Red .............. 29K rpm
Maybe to choose a new and exciting color like purple or violet ...

Just a thought and not trying to hoodwink anyone :)

Agree Luke. Maybe there's a production cost constraint or something similar.

Pendle Slot Racing + Maurizio/SlotIt + Ninco Track = A grand Oxigen Digital 6hr race ..!
PSR is one of my favorite online hobby shops and one will notice (in this vid) the big display of orange rusty brown end-bell drive 21.5K rpm motors.
