I'm back in T&T

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

Well I'm back from my holiday in the US and Cayman Islands. Thought you'd get some kicks off this pic of me driving my good friend Gary Huggins' RWD Toyota Starlet race-car:

Here are two static shots of the car (how you like those rims Luke?):

Finally, three videos:

The best part of this section was on the other side of the block away from the camera, unfortunately. I managed to spin it on one run :). Gary is in the car with me on the last two passes.

Gary does the first two runs on the roundabout, then I do the rest, including the obligatory spin!

Last two runs... I think the last one looks the best...

I had a great deal of fun doing this. It was the first time I'd driven a RWD race-car with some horsepower for almost thirty years!

Look at that nah! "The Minilite Wheels" & just some days ago you/we talked about them 8-)

Lets discuss something like 5+1= 6 numbers nah

Also, from those vids... It sure look like you still got what it takes to be a boss racing driver... Sure you had a smile from ear to ear too.

GR8 to know you are back GG and (to me) the worst part about great holidays - you need a next holiday from your great holiday :D

Gary doesn't have one of his cams though. He told me that he had never heard of them before but thought it would be fun to put the logo on his car.

It was great to drive a RWD car with some power, something I have not done for a very long time. On the first section (not the roundabout), in the 90º right-hander diagonally across from where the camera was, I could see if any cars were coming (left and right). As long as it was clear I could start on the left and turn in to the apex on the right, then drift right back over to the left on the exit. Using this line I could get the power on early so that by the apex the back end was sliding under power all the way to the outer edge of the road. There were no road kerbs, so I didn't have to worry about hitting any. That's where I discovered that I could still handle a car on the edge of traction :). It was great!
