New minimum driver attendance for hosting FRC events

Guys,

Because of what's involved in preparing for an FRC event, I'm introducing a minimum confirmed driver attendance requirement before confirming all future events.

Each future event announcement on the FRC forum will include a poll where persons can indicate whether or not they will be attending. If by the morning of the event date there are fewer than six (6) confirmed attendance responses, the event will be cancelled.

At any event where there are seven attendees, the maximum number of starters per race will be five. If there are six attendees, the maximum starters per race will be four. At these events, the slowest two qualifiers will do marshaling for the first race and thereafter we will cycle out the last two finishers in each race to do marshaling for the following race, allowing the marshals from the previous race to drive in their place.

This system will ensure that I don't waste my time preparing for a non-event and that when we have fewer than eight attendees, there will still be two marshals for each race.

Everyone interested in being involved with FRC shouldjoin the forum, otherwise they will be unable to participate in these polls.

GG,

In the fullness of time what you're doing here - use to be done before but as time would have it ... The FRC poll system was put on a "back burner" (so to say) and I think all due to a regular turnout of 6 or more drivers. It was also very noticeable that the majority was TSCC racers that made this possible.

So with the up and coming busy racing (August) timetable for the south racing ring - the regular 5 to 6 racing drivers not being able to make FRC's events because of this ... I think helped for you to work out this new idea - a maximum number of starters per race - and thinking it over, drivers knowing marshaling wont be an issue with this system, is a comforting one for all present at FRC.

Gordon,

With all respect, the south team advised that we are working during the month of August, on building our racing contingent at our track in Marabella. We do understand a lot of work goes into the preparation of hosting an event and we do appreciate the time taken and your hospitality extended.
The south team will be back at FRC from September. I am sure during your visit to our track you saw the interest generated during the month and you know the amount of preparation goes into hosting an event. We hosted no less than 22 persons on a Thursday and even had as much as 45 persons one night.

We are all glad to race at FRC and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Arden, nothing to apologise about at all. I think there's been a misunderstanding. This has nothing to do with you guys not attending FRC events. I knew about the August racing at TSCC long in advance as Ram had passed it by me even before it was mentioned on the forum. I was only able to make it to one of these so we continued to have our regular biweekly events for those not attending TSCC's races on the same nights.

I'm never sure how many drivers will attend FRC events, so I thought that we could use the capabilities of the forum to get an idea of this by having a poll. Not only will this help me, but others can get an idea of the kind of turnout to expect and it may encourage more attendance. On re-reading the post, maybe my wording made it sound a little harsh, but this was not done intentionally.

With respect to the number of race starters, I've done this solely to ensure that we have at least two marshals in attendance for each race. Last week's Mini Challenge races were a good example of this... we had five drivers for this class and ran five races with four starters participating in each race, the fifth cycling out for each race. The racing turned out to be lots of fun, despite there being only four starters per race. Of course this is an IROC class, but for our regular classes, instead of cycling out the two last-place drivers as suggested above, maybe we can do something like this so that everyone gets the same number of races.

I hope this clarifies everything. I want all the TSCC guys to know that we very much appreciate your attendance and look forward to seeing you at every FRC event if possible. You've raised the bar and continue to challenge us to improve and this can only be a good thing.
