FRC LMP-E/GT-E Endurance Event 2015

Note: Information here supersedes anything posted elsewhere, including comments on the page linked at the bottom of this post. Red text highlights changes from previous information posted.

Date of Event
This event will take place on Saturday 11th July. Track will be open from 4:00PM and we expect to start qualifying from 5:00PM. Race should start by 5:45PM or earlier and finishes one hour later, so you still have the Saturday evening for other activities!

Type of Event
1-hour endurance.

Classes
Two new special classes have been introduced for this event, LMP-E and GT-E, both of which will run concurrently.

Car Regulations
  • Body: LMP and GT models based on real cars that raced from 1982 onwards (for LMP, Group C onwards). Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.
  • Chassis: Free.
  • Minimum Ground Clearance: 1.0 mm / 0.040 in under any magnets.
  • Interior: Free but must comply with FRC Classes General item 3.
  • Digital Chip: Free.
  • Motor - GT-E: Up to 21,500 RPM.
  • Motor - LMP-E: Up to 25,000 RPM.
  • Gearing: Free.

  • Magnets - LMP-E: Maximum Magnet Marshal downforce of 275 gm (5% leeway allowed - 289 gm).
  • Wheels: Free.
  • Axles: Free.
  • Tyres: Free.
  • Guide Flag: Free.
  • Car Minimum Weight: 90 gm.
Number of Drivers per Car
Two to three drivers per car. Each car must make a minimum number of stop-and-go pit stops (car must come to a complete stop) equivalent to one less than the largest number of drivers on any one team. So if a team has three drivers, every team must make a minimum of two pit stops, regardless of how many drivers are on the team. We are sure to have enough cars for the race, so come along even if you don't have a car (or bring one if you like!), chances are you'll be able to join one of the teams once you qualify.

Qualifying
Every car entered must be qualified by each team driver. At the end of qualifying, the fastest three LMP-E cars and the fastest three GT-E cars that are not being driven by one of the fastest three LMP-E teams will qualify for the race. Qualifying results will be based on the fastest time done by a driver who will drive the car in the race (this prevents someone qualifying a car for another team). There will be a 110% qualifying rule in effect. At the discretion of the other qualifiers who have qualified within 110%, drivers who qualify outside of this may or may not be permitted to start. Drivers for each car can be changed and finalised after qualifying but before the start of the race, however each driver must have qualified.

Winners
There will be three winners recognised, LMP-E, GT-E and Overall (yes, as in real racing, its possible for a GT-E car to win overall).

Test and Tune Session:
The track will be open from 7:30PM this Thursday 9th July for a final test and tune session.
