Great night of some very close racing. Enjoyed both classes tremendously. It is nice to see the variety of cars now appearing for the Rally class. Look forward to seeing Luke's new contender (Renault Megane) at the next event. Interesting to note that in the Rally class, apart from the Fiat raced by Jon, which in 1:1 is Italian, all the other cars raced in 1:1 are French : Renault, Citroen, Peugeot and Alpine.
Was very impressed with the marshalling, given the fact that there were only two marshalls during the Mini races.
Looking forward to the next event.

Personally,
Making a long story short & who the cap fits ...
Marshalling and STOP Track calls (at crucial times/points) during races are not being done as its supposed to be done ..
Apparently for an advantage or personal gain.
Nonetheless - had a great time racing

Ram,
Thanks for ensuring we have marshals. Without marshals we will be running around the table. Even though it may be good exercise, we can certainly do without it.
Racing was quite good. I should be up to speed next time with my new rally car.

GG & info for all,
I was talking to Kerwin yesterday evening and we happened to discuss the possibilities of installing a
On/Off electrical switch for the FRC Race Track.
This switch could also be positioned for the
Race Control Tower/Head Steward to operate.
He (Kerwin) said he will be checking on you GG to make this (long time) recommendation materialize.
Nothing to elaborate but one all the same for
STOP ~ Track Calls procedures

Luke,
Kerwin and I had discussed having a better way to supply power to the track some time ago. He suggested that we put an electrical socket on the corner pillar of the garage (where the cooler is usually located) and run the track wiring to a cable (attached to the track table) with a plug at the end to connect into the socket. The electrical socket would be connected to a cable what would run along the ceiling and into the laundry room/slot car work station where it would connect to the DC power supply which in turn would be plugged into the electrical mains.
The idea was to avoid having to bring the heavy power supply out and place it under the track table then connect it and run the masking tape, etc. and then having to do the reverse when packing up. Instead it would be a simple case of plugging the power supply into the electrical mains (this would be done in the laundry room) then plugging the table into the pillar socket.
Having explained the concept, I have to add that neither your suggestion not this will allow power-off "track calls", since pulling the plug (or switching the switch) would remove all power and clear the Power Base, cancelling the race in the process.
Instead, what would be ideal is a button on a cable connected to the Power Base which the chief steward can press to create a "track call" that stops all cars without turning off the Power Base. The same button could be pressed to resume racing. Unfortunately I know of no such capability in the power base, but I'll do a bit of research to see if there's a solution.

OK, I just checked and the most practical way to stop all the cars is for a designated person to initiate a track call by pressing the "Start" button on the Power Base. This will immediately stop all cars and pause the race. Pressing any button after this will resume the race.
Now, this means that the designated person must have easy access to the Power Base, so in practical terms, it probably should be a driver following the instructions of the Chief Steward.
Maybe we can all provide a bit of feedback as to how best this should be accomplished.

GG,
I understand all that you have explained here but I think Kerwin will describe it best - what he was talking about ...
I got lost with what he was telling me and this is why I wrote - he will be checking on you.
I only understood so much and no more concerning the track electronics but sure you will understand him better - what he's driving at with the track - On/Off electrical switch.

Oh, now I understand. He is suggesting putting a switch between the Power Base and the track (on a cable for the chief steward to operate). There may be some work in this since the Power Base is attached to the track (the start line half-straight is part of the Power Base). In fact I had done some extra soldering in that area. We'll have to look at it closely and see if it can be done.
