RACE REPORT #174 - August 14th 2014 (GT, LMP)
Five drivers came out to run our fast GT and LMP open classes. Luke B took pole in both, setting a new lap record in GT. He then turned this into four GT and five LMP wins, almost sweeping all the top spots.
While this sounds - and is - very impressive, his wins in GT in particular were not uncontested on the track. The GT races were very close and even my dismal five last places didn't mean my Opel Vectra wasn't quick - it was, albeit difficult to drive. But both Luke and Steve had their cars running particularly well and were able to challenge the Bhola steamroller and keep the "north boys" flag flying proudly, if slightly below the top of the mast.
LMP was not quite as competitive, with my car being the only one really able to pose a challenge to the "south boys" machines. Even so, it was just not up to the speed of the two Bhola Cadillacs.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
2014 Overall Class Points Update
Next event's classes: We start a new cycle of racing with a revamped set of class groupings, so we'll be running the new group A: Mixed GT IROC - 6 races @ 20 laps, Restricted GT - 5 races @ 30 laps. As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated 2014 Class Points Standings.
See you on the circuit...
