Racing this Thursday 14th August

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (14th August) for our Group H classes: GT - 5 races @ 40 laps, LMP - 5 races @ 40 laps. Remember that our events now start no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM SHARP - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Winning cars will be checked for compliance with the regulations after the last race for each class (excluding IROC classes)
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see all the class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Here are the specific GT and LMP class regs (blue text indicates any changes for 2014):

Gordon,

Sorry can't make it.

I asked a question on drive thru penalty in your last race report. I noticed it was not enforced at the last meeting, a driver did not do his drive thru and still won the race. Did you change the rule?

Arden.

Sorry you can't make it Arden.

Regarding the question on whether the drive through rule has changed, no it hasn't, but maybe we need to make a rule that drive through disputes be settled between the drivers concerned before the results are recorded and the next race starts.

For my part, I forgot that there was a question on a drive through and in fact I can't rmemeber the class, race or drivers concerned. Perhaps someone can remind me of the details.

Gordon,

There was a drive thru by Steve on LukeT in a G5 race just in front the throttles in the infield around the lane changer just before you enter the Dunlop Bridge. I was supposed to be calling Red Flag etc. and I called a drive thru made by Steve on LukeT. The reason I reason why I believe it should be penalized is he did not use the lane changer and just drove thru Luke's car as if his car was not there. I believe that sort of driving should be left for an amateur not an experienced and top class driver like Steve.
I remember when Ramesh made his first drive thru he was penalized and he was an amateur. It was only his second or third time at FRC.
This went unnoticed and no one said anything. I believe fair is fair and no one is above the rule!
If a drive thru is done it must be taken unless the person de slotted advises different.

Although questions are asked and asked to be answered and answered ~ suppose we can call this one AM and I don't mean American Muscle - it could be an Awkward Moment  :|

Fair is fair but maybe bygones be bygones :)

Luke,

You need to say what you mean.
Are you saying that you did not query the drive thru and it was ok?

Okay Arden,

Let me explain ... in more detail.

I'm writing about whats happening with this post ... starting with how you asked a question, Gordon with a reply/answer, me for attorney hehe, then Steve with his 'playing dead to catch' one liner .... and you with your 'pin point' reply right after - isn't that feeling like an awkward moment ..?

On the topic though & being the big men that we are ... In that G5 race you forgot how I said, "a blue car drove through my red car ..!"

I dont think I need to say anymore about that but was only trying to tell you here to (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XleOkGsYgO8) move along, okay Bud :)

Its left up to you now ~ understand ;)
