RACE REPORT #170 - July 10th 2014
FRC welcomed seasoned analog racer but digital newcomer Dion and eleven other drivers to our 170th event, this one for our IROC Mini Challenge (MC) class, paired a usual with our only magnet-less Rally (RC) class.
Because of a late start we opted to skip MC qualifying and went right on to the Rally stages to start the night's competition. At our last Rally event we saw Arden set blistering times, including a new Rally single-lap record. Well to up the ante, during the stages Arden's time was bested by a Ramesh-prepared, Luke B-driven Peugeot 406, giving everyone else an even harder target. Although Luke B was untouchable, the rest the rally competition was as competitive as ever, however Luke, Steve and Ramesh suffered de-slots and lost out on better results.
MC was split into two sub-groups with six seasoned drivers racing in group A and five drivers in group B. The latter had three race winners, including a noteworthy one by digital first-timer Dion. Racing was filled with the usual action and the drivers generally stayed in the slot in commendable fashion. When the group B results were compiled, a single point separated the overall class winner from second place. In group A, we had four winners and similarly close racing, although the points were not quite as close.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
2014 Overall Class Points Update
Next event's classes: Class grouping E: Historic Saloon - 5 races @ 30 laps, Vintage Sports - 5 races @ 30 laps. As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated 2014 Class Points Standings.
See you on the circuit...
