RACE REPORT #163 - April 23rd 2014

Exactly six drivers competed in our Historic Saloon (HS) and Vintage Sports (VS) classes, ensuring a full grid with everyone driving in all the races. We also had a Ferrari Chalenge "grudge match" of three races for the two marshals/drivers present, Marlon and Jon.

It was a night where Ford cars were the majority with the HS grid comprising four Escorts, one Mustang and one Cortina - a full grid - and VS having three GT40s and one MkIV GT. It was nice to see Steve debuting yet another marque from the '60s era - a Cheetah to compete in VS. For the first time in a long while I managed to get pole at an event, this one in HS. Luke B did the same in VS and so the night's racing was set.

Despite a promising start, a combination of too many de-slots, bad luck with other on-track incidents and some mis-marshaling, I was unable to translate my HS pole into a single win. Instead, the races were dominated by Luke B and Ramesh. VS was a similar story in terms of results, Luke B and Ramesh taking all the wins. In between these two sets of races we ran three FC Marshals races the see whether Marlon or Jon would come out on top and it turned out to be close.
