Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:00 PM this Thursday (20th February) for a modified version of our Group E classes: Because our Nissan GT-R IROC cars are still in need of digital chips, we'll be running the Lambos - 6 races @ 25 laps and Restricted GT - 5 races @ 35 laps. After this event we're taking a two-week break for the pre and post-Carnival period, so try to come and have some fun. All are invited to participate and you don't need to bring any cars for the Lambo IROC races. For those planning to run in RGT, please bring your cars ready to go. Here's the usual schedule:
  • 8:00 PM - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see all the class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Here are the RGT class regs (blue text indicates any changes for 2014):

Restricted GT (RGT)
  • Body: Must be modeled after a car which competes in GT racing and must comply with General item 2. Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.
  • Chassis: Standard for the particular model.
  • Minimum Ground Clearance: 1.0 mm / 0.040".
  • Interior: Free but must comply with General item 3.
  • Digital Chip: Free.
  • Motor: 23,000 RPM or lower, based on manufacturer's specifications.
  • Gearing: Free.
  • Motor Pod (where applicable): Standard for the particular model.
  • Magnets: Up to 2.5mm thick and must be positioned in one of the standard magnet locations for the particular model.
  • Wheels: Free.
  • Axles: Free.
  • Tyres: Free.
  • Guide Flag: Free.
NOTE: With the new minimum ground clearance rule now in effect, the ground clearance of ALL QUALIFYING CARS and of the winning car IN EACH RACE will be checked to ensure legality. Remember, the 1mm bar must pass under any magnets when checked on a tech block (a resistance fit is OK as long it does not raise the car in the process). Directly after each car qualifies and races consider it in "parc ferme" - do not remove it from the track table until the ground clearance is checked.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Hi Gordon, i do enjoy the reality of your pics, its great in 2014 that you are putting out the rules per class as they come up, you are well respected for being so organize , your time is very much appreciated, the south team will be there on thur , i do hope more guys come out since the iroc cars will be running and there might be a and b classes , i must comment on two things from last thur one being Steve driving his mg so well with its 15k motor against the more powerful 18k of the escorts and secondly Arden breaking the vs bracket for a while,, 5.7 sec with his new nsr , a lot of hard work went in to that project and respectable results were achieved , the test and tune night was helpful. great racing by all , my hope is that more racers will come out and share in all this fun , especially those guys that like modify racing also, since the rgt cars will also be running, bye Ramesh

Thanks Ramesh, the test and tune really did help me to achieve great success. The car has a lot of potential and can do better. Looking forward to RGT. Hope we have a full grid and all cars are competitive. Drive thru (Steve) I must say you are a very good driver. Your focus is excellent and you seem to know the limits of the cars you build. You make whatever car you are driving competitive. As Ramesh commented on your MG you turned in a very good performance.
Guys look out!
I'm coming with all cylinders firing!
