Racing this Thursday 13th February

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:00 PM this Thursday (13th February) for our Group E classes: Historic Saloon - 5 races @ 30 laps, Vintage Sports - 5 races @ 30 laps. Please bring your cars ready to go. Here's the usual schedule:
  • 8:00 PM - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see all the class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Here are the class regs (blue text indicates any changes for 2014):

Historic Saloon (HS)
For cars based on production saloon/sedan and road going sports cars from the 1960s and 1970s - see Eligable Cars below.

  • Chassis: Standard for the particular model.
  • Minimum Ground Clearance: 1.0 mm / 0.040".
  • Interior: Full interior as standard for the particular model, however this may be altered if necessary, but only to the extent required to install digital chip. Must comply with General item 3.
  • Digital Chip: Scalextric brand only.
  • Motor: Standard for the particular model.
  • Gearing: Standard for the particular model.
  • Motor Pod (where applicable): Standard for the particular model.
  • Magnets: Standard for the particular model.
  • Wheels: Standard for the particular model.
  • Axles: Standard for the particular model.

  • Guide Flag: Standard for the particular model.
Vintage Sports (VS)
For basically-unmodified racing sports and prototype cars from the 1960s - see Eligable Cars below.
  • Body: See Eligable Cars below. Body must comply with General item 2. Windows may not be tinted - interior must be visible.
  • Gearing: Motor and axle gears may be changed.
  • Motor Pod (where applicable): Standard for the particular model.
  • Magnets: Standard for the particular model. In the case of MRRC "Sebring" chassis cars, up to two standard magnets in the standard magnet locations may be used.
  • Wheels: Standard for the particular model.
  • Axles: Standard for the particular model.
  • Tyres: Free but must fit standard wheels.
  • Guide Flag: Standard for the particular model.
Check out the FRC class regulations for a list of eligible cars for these classes.

NOTE: With the new minimum ground clearance rule now in effect, the ground clearance of ALL QUALIFYING CARS and of the winning car IN EACH RACE will be checked to ensure legality. Remember, the 1mm bar must pass under any magnets when checked on a tech block (a resistance fit is OK as long it does not raise the car in the process).

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Will be there for sure.
Love the photos, particularly the saloons. Note the leading Cortina is a 4 door. This was probably a GT. Not sure if they made the Lotus as a 4 door.
