RACE REPORT #155 - January 30th 2014
With a total of nine drivers present, we had a large entry for both our Rally can Mini Challenge classes, the latter having to be split in to subgroups A and B based on qualifying times. Luke B. took pole in MC (A) while Marlon did likewise for MC (B).
We ran the rally stages first, five laps per stage with all nine drivers taking place - the largest turnout for the class on record. On Arden's suggestion, instead of just recording each driver's overall time for each of the five stages, we recorded every lap. This way we were able to get accurate fastest laps for each driver. In total there were 225 numbers were recorded to accomplish this! Three drivers shared the stage wins but that doesn't tell the story of how much entertainment and competitiveness defined the stages. There was always someone within every time bracket fighting with at least one other driver for boasting rights. When the individual lap times were finally computed, the quickest was an eye-opener.
To save time, the MC races were reduced to fifteen laps (from the usual twenty), but that didn't change the competitiveness amongst the drivers. In MC (B), every driver took at least one win and at the end the points were extremely close. Four drivers took wins in MC (A) and again the racing was close, but in the end one would be dominant.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
2014 Overall Class Points Update
Next event: Tuning Session. Bring along the cars you need to test and enjoy a night of sorting them out. As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated 2014 Class Points Standings.
See you on the circuit...
