RACE REPORT #139 - AUGUST 22ND 2013
With a turnout of eight drivers for our fast American Muscle, GT and LMP classes, there was plenty of action at the FRC circuit last night. Once again proceedings were dominated by the Bhola steamroller which included Luke B. setting yet another new lap record. It was good to see the return of Dougie who showed that he had lost none of his driving ability in his absence, although his cars were not up to scratch so he ended up driving Kyle's AM and GT cars and my Riley in LMP.
The AM races were very closely contested, three drivers sharing wins in the five races. The same could not be said about the GT races where Luke B. totally dominated by taking pole and winning every race decisively. He was going so fast that he was lapping other GT cars within three laps of the start! Dougie did well to finish second in the GT points as there were no less than four different second-placed drivers in the class. As we were running pretty late by the time the LMP class rolled round, we ran just three races. This was just as well since attrition resulted in a diminishing field of starters as each race was run.
Its been good to see first the return of Nicholas and now Dougie to regular racing. Let's hope that others are encouraged to come back by the immense challenge presented by the Bhola boys. On the other end of the scale, it would be nice to see an influx of newcomers to FRC and the time couldn't be better for them, with separate "rookie" races planned using FRC's IROC cars.
New Lap Records
Congratulations to the winners.
2013 Overall Class Points Update
Next event's classes: Porsche Cup - 6 races @ 25 laps, Modified Production - 5 races @ 30 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the full 2013 Class Points Standings.
See you on the circuit...
