RACE REPORT #137 - AUGUST 8TH 2013

Although it looked like we might not have enough driver attendance up to the day before the event, eight drivers turned up to compete in our Mini Challenge, Restricted GT and Slot.It Challenge classes. Qualifying gave an idea of the pace that the races would be run, especially when Luke B. posted an incredible time in RGT, with dad Ramesh not far behind, making it clear that everyone else was racing for third place. Even Luke's all-conquering Honda NSX had no answer for these two.

The Minis produced the usual very challenging races for everyone, with four winners from the eight drivers who took part. In the end first and second place were separated by just four points.

As was hinted at in qualifying, RGT was much like a two-class race - "Bhola vs Bhola" and "The Rest". All the wins were shared between Ramesh and Luke B. in their very quick Porsches.

SC was fiercely competitive. There were four different winners in the five races, the double-winner taking the overall prize.

New Lap Records

New records were set for all three classes run:
  • MC - 8.179 sec (Nicholas E., Scalextric BMW Mini)
  • RGT - 5.128 sec (Luke B., Scalextric Porsche 911 GT1)
  • SC - 5.526 sec (Gordon, Slot.It Toyota 88C)

Great event at FRC as usual. Nice to see the good turnout of drivers, including 'Boo' whose neck seems to be coming along quite well (turning ability seems to be a bit better than the cars he's racing !). Don't remember ever staying at FRC as late at this event. The Eid holiday on Friday made it possible to lime later than usual and the ole talk and lime after was really good.
Congrats to Nick, Luke B. and Gordon on setting new lap records and to Luke and Luke B. for winning the individual classes and the event overall.
Steve

Gordon,

Lots to write about here - but I noticed/think this is about the 3rd. time you did a new SC lap record and of course on pole. Anyway, I did a quick check & its 4 consecutive times you have done this in 2013!

Race Report Nos./Times ~ 119/5.704, 125/5.649, 131/5.569 & 137/5.526

Well done and I know you noticed how Luke B. (and Father "riding shotgun") coming up in the points standings here. He is (Luke B) not far from me anymore in RGT and still have a good way to go with you in SC... They still have a lot of work to do in MC though :D

Maybe we can/should sponsor the cold beers for the Dynamic Duo in Mini Challenge :) Ent Ramesh

Hi guys , just my point about competition ,if gordon was not challenged there would be no point in doing any better times, this is what racing is all about, therefore raising the bar should not be a deterent but an encouragement to others, remember racing is a car and driver combination, for eg luke b car and my car have different set ups, my true passion is building cars, i did mention to gordon i am willing to do a car set up day with slot it cars as an eg on basic tips on setting up a car out of the box, then the rest is up to your driving. some times people tend to expect the car to do all the work. thanks for an opportunity to share, remember when you share you gain. bye ramesh

Very competitive racing, yes. The racing has gotten a little tougher, but Ramesh is correct it's good for the sport, we need to spend more time setting up our cars, still a great nite racing @ FRC. BTW. Guys. I would like to thank all the members of FRC for showing up @ the fund raiser, thanks a lot guys for your support. God bless
