Pit exit collisions

Guys,

We've been seeing constant pit exit collisions at our events because of drivers anxiously trying to get back into a race without losing more time. I would like to propose that the offender be required to do a stop and go penalty for any such incidents in the future. These penalties will work just like the current ones we have for drive-through offences, in that if the race finishes before the offender has served the penalty, he's demoted to last place.

We may also have to add a separate penalty if the offender officially places last, just to discourage this and make everyone aware that they must give way to cars on the track when leaving the pits.

Lets discuss this here.

Maybe the guilty driver, if he finishes last, should be given a lap penalty at the start of his next ( within the class ) race.
This could be done by starting in the pits ( the very end of the pits ).

Sounds good to me. Of course if its the last race for the class, what then?

Gordon - I was looking over this post and agree its all well and good with a DTP for a pit exit collision but is the offender required to do a running lap also???
