RACE REPORT #129 - JUNE 6TH 2013
We had exactly six drivers competing in Vintage Sports and Modified Production, whilst four cars turned up for our inaugural Group 5 Sports Car races. Unfortunately, of these four, only three competed as Luke's brand new Ferrari 512S was not yet in a competitive state and he opted to pull it from the event. The blistering pace in VS and MP saw new lap records being set and it became clear that, with the state of the current VS class regulations, to have a chance one has to be running a Scalextric Ford GT40.
The three G5SC cars that raced were all Slot.It Alfa 33/3 models and the racing was close, however south boys Ramesh and son Luke were the superior drivers on the night. The class did as expected by requiring a proper setup and a high level of driving skill and concentration to keep the relatively powerful cars in the slot. It should prove to be an even more competitive class as additional cars and drivers join in with the coming events.
New Lap Records
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: Ferrari Team Challenge - 6 races @ 30 laps, Rally Car - 3 five-lap stages per car (1 car at a time). Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated 2013 Class Points Standings.
See you on the circuit...
Gordon
Footnote:
It was worrying news to hear that Boo was involved in a vehicular accident the night after the event, sustaining a broken neck. He is currently in St. Clair Medical Clinic and will undergo a serious operation tomorrow (Monday). Our thoughts and prayers are with him at this difficult time.
