RACE REPORT #123 - APRIL 11TH 2013
Last night saw another event packed with stiff competition and tons of fun at FRC. Ferrari Team Challenge and Historic Saloon cars took to the circuit for practice then qualifying, followed by some really close racing. In FTC team Giallo (Yellow) took an early lead, but challenges from team Blu (Blue) and team Rosso (Red) threatened and it took some hard but controlled driving to determine the final results. Unfortunately one of the team Rosso (Red) cars experienced electrical problems which curtailed their challenge for team honours.
In Historic Saloon, the six drivers qualified within 0.655 sec, fastest to slowest, so we knew that the racing would be close and it certainly was. Pole-sitter Alex thought he had it in the bag, but racing is seldom predictible and in the end one driver stood out, taking a clean sweep in all the top results of the event.
Despite a recent painful back injury, Mike's valiant effort to attend with grandson Marcus ended early when they had to leave prematurely because the discomfort became intolerable. Hope you get batter soon Mike!
The results
Congratulations to the winners, particularly Arden for taking FTC Champion, HS Champion, Overall Champion and the Index of Performance!
Next event's classes: Porsche Cup - 6 races @ 30 laps, Rally Car - three 5-lap stages per car (1 car at a time). Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.
See you on the circuit...
