RACE REPORT #121 - MARCH 27TH 2013
Hi Guys,
Seven drivers took part in our 121st event for Lambo Series, F1 and Modified Production classes. As planned, we had a short meeting before the event to discuss some concerns with competitiveness of the cars within certain classes, the results of which will be mentioned in a separate post. One thing coming out of that is that the winning cars in our F1 and MP classes were opened up immediately after their final race and examined to ensure that they complied with the regulations, which they did.
Earlier in the week I spent some time balancing the magnetic downforce of the Lambos. In the process I checked each car's magnet outside of the car and was surprised at the variation in downforce between them - all the same type and sized magnet from Scalextric. Replacing two magnets with others from my collection and using shims I was able to get the cars to all have a measured downforce variation of just about 4 gms, much closer than they ever were. This was reflected in their performance on track where they showed very similar characteristics and speed with about .5 sec difference between the fastest and slowest of the seven drivers in qualifying. Despite this, whether by coincidence or not, one car (#3) driven by six different drivers won five of the six races and was second in the sixth. Hmmm.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: American Muscle - 3 races @ 40 laps, GT - 3 races @ 40 laps, LMP - 3 races @ 40 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.
See you on the circuit...
