Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice from 7:00 PM this Wednesday (27th March), followed by a discussion (see below), then qualifying and racing. Scheduled classes are Lambo Series - 6 races @ 30 laps, F1 - 3 races @ 30 laps, Modified Production - 3 races @ 30 laps. We'll run A and B subgroups if there are more than 8 entries in any class. Please bring your cars READY TO RACE so we don't finish too late.

DISCUSSION RE: COMPETITION ISSUES

Before the first race, we will be having a discussion about the following topic:

The large variation in performance between cars eligible for our Historic Saloon, Vintage Sports and Restricted GT classes. The discussion should focus on how we can level the playing field within these classes so that we can continue to run different brands and models yet every car can be made competitive.

Some suggestions thus far to try to achieve this are:
  1. Limiting maximum downforce and RPM using the Magnet Marshal and a digital tachometer (both of which I am in possession of).
  2. Changing these classes to time-bracket classes where a target fastest time is decided upon for each class and any cars that beat this time are disqualified.
  3. ...I'm sure you have some of your own ideas...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the proposed schedule:
  • 8:00 PM - Discussion
  • 8:30 PM - Qualifying. Drivers not ready will start whatever races they are ready for at the back of the grid in the order they arrive at their driving station with car on track.
  • 9:00 PM - Racing starts. Again, drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any excess drivers who are ready.
  • After racing - Packing up followed by liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see all the class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Ice Brigade: Steve (1 bag please).

See you on the circuit...
Gordon
