RACE REPORT #113 - DECEMBER 27TH 2012
Hi Guys,
Our last event for 2012 came off very well. The concept was to include the kids by having some races specifically for them and to enjoy a BBQ meal alongside our racing which would feature some special races to close off the year.
Not only did the kids have a whale of a time, but they thoroughly surprised everyone by their quick yet controlled driving. Their third race was so competitive that three of the four finished on the same lap, with fourth place being just one lap down. This in a 30-lap race! More surprises came when the overall results for champion driver were tallied, but I'll let you read the results below to see what I mean.
We ran a total of thirteen races for the various classes and all sixteen drivers present got a chance to do their thing. Amongst these were two races which we ran for the first time at FRC. Named "Forced-Retirement" races, each was a 30-lapper where at the end of the 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th laps the last runner was forced to retire, leaving just two cars to determine the winner in the final five laps.
Thanks to Alex for doing the BBQ duties (and getting a nighttime sunburn in the process!), to Luke for bringing along sausages for hot dogs and cutters, to Arden for the Chinese chicken, to Debbie for the macaroni salad and to everyone else for bringing along something for the BBQ. My personal thanks to all of you who attended and made the event such a success and for your support throughtout 2012. I really appreciate it.
In the end, Luke, Steve, Nicholas and I limed in the driveway finishing off some beers and enjoying small talk till almost 2.00 AM.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: To be announced. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.
See you on the circuit...
