RACE REPORT #109 - SEPTEMBER 20TH 2012
Thursday night saw exactly six drivers turn up to race in our Vintage Sports, Restricted GT and Slot.It challenge classes. Arden and Ramesh came up from south to join Luke, Steve, Alex and myself for a night of digital racing action at FRC.
Ramesh surprised the rest of us by taking his VS Ford GT40 to his first pole at only his third digital event while Luke's Honda NSX set a blistering pace in RGT qualifying that no one could get close to - over half a second faster than the next man. Steve capped off the poles for the event, putting his Toyota 88C at the front in SC.
Three different winners underlined the competitive nature of the VS races. In fact there was a mix of results right through the field in all three races, with no one totally dominating the results. In the end a single point separated the top two points scorers for the class.
Unsurprisingly, Luke was almost totally dominant in RGT aside from one race where he finished 0.6 sec behind the winner after having to do a stop and go penalty.
As expected, the two Toyota 88Cs of Steve and myself were the class of the field in SC, however challenges from Arden and Ramesh threw a couple of spokes in the wheel to add some flavour to the races.
New lap record
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: Lambo Series - 6 races @ 30 laps, F1 - 3 races @ 30 laps, Modified Production - 3 races @ 30 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.
See you on the circuit...
