Racing this Thursday (15th March)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice from 6:00 PM this Thursday, followed by qualifying and racing. Scheduled classes are Ferrari Team Challenge - 6 races @ 30 laps, Modified Production - 3 races @ 30 laps (270 total laps for all classes).

This will be the first time that we'll be racing the Ferrari F430s and it will be done so under a new concept - team racing. Basically, there are two yellow, two blue and two red Ferraris and individual placings/points will not apply to the class championship for the night. Instead, each colour pair will race as a team, with the total points of the two cars being accumulated for the win in the class (the team championship). The final results for the class will be by team (yellow, blue and red), not by individual driver. Individual driver points will still go towards the "Champion Driver of the Event" award.

Track closes down at 10:00 PM, so here's the schedule:
  • 7:00 PM - Qualifying. Drivers not ready will start whatever races they are ready for at the back of the grid in the order they arrive at their driving station with car on track.
  • 7:30 PM - Racing starts. Again, drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any excess drivers who are ready.
  • 10:00 PM - Packing up followed by liming/old talk.
You can see all the class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Ice Brigade: O'Brie - last event's champion! (1 bag please)

See you on the circuit...

How will qualifying and subsequent grid positions for the Ferraris be determined ? Is it that pulling for numbers would just determine the car (and hence team) and then qualifying would take place in the usual manner ?
