Race report #84 - Thursday 11th August, 2011

Hi Guys,
Our inaugural Lambo Series added to the night's racing by challenging the eight drivers present with their substantially high power-to-weight ratio, making the cars fly in more ways than one. In keeping with our tradition of running the lower-powered cars first, we ran the first Restricted GT and Slot.It races before starting the first Lambo Series race, recognising them as the most powerful cars of the night. Interestingly, despite their power they actually did he slowest qualifying times!
Brent took pole in RGT followed by Luke, while Luke bettered Brent's time to take pole in SC and I managed to go quickest in LS qualifying. In the races themselves, despite having some fast cars, Brent threw away any chance of winning a class by having to leave early. Despite this he still managed second in the RGT championship. Laird once again got his Porsche 956 going very well and was the force to contend with in SC. It was good to see the ever enthusiastic Boo take a well-driven win in the second SC race. As for the LS class, I had accurately predicted that the way to win was to stay in the slot and keep driving as fast as possible and this worked well for me.
It was a night of fun and action, particularly in the new LS class. Races were won by Brent, Laird, Boo, Steve and I, an indication of how competitive and entertaining FRC events can be.
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: Modified Production, F1, Indy Car (3 races each @ 30 laps - 270 total for all classes)
Be sure to get your Mod Prod cars ready to rumble!
See you on the circuit...
