Race report #83 - Thursday 28th July, 2011

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

The ten drivers that took part in the night's racing included Ray visiting us once again from the US and Arden from nearly as far off... San Fernando :D. One very regular driver not in attendance was Dougie who was resting in St. Clair Medical Clinic after a pretty serious operation. We missed you Dougie and look forward to seeing you back at FRC soon.

Classes run were Porsche Cup (split into subgroups A and B), Historic Saloon and Vintage Sports. Ray brought along the tiniest car to ever grace the FRC track, a Scaley modern version of the original Mini Cooper. Don't let its results fool you... its a great little car with much potential for Historic Saloon that was just off the pace of the much-developed existing batch of class front runners. I'm pretty sure that with a bit of legal tuning it will be right there with the fast Fords. Now we'll just have to wait and see who'll be the first to race a new Scaley or Pioneer MGB!

Alex was on top form in Porsche Cup A, taking pole and performing very well in the races. Kyle never got to FRC till the first race was about to start but, despite missing qualifying and having to start back down the grid, he performed admirably, winning five of the seven races he competed in. Both Historic Saloon and Vintage Sports were full of action and the championship winners were not clear till the very end.

All in all it was another enjoyable night of slot racing with the curtain falling some time after midnight.
