Hi Guys,

Things got going around 4:00 PM on Saturday with all sorts of cars being tested. Despite a small turnout of just five drivers, activity on the track was constant. That is, until Dougie got the BBQ going, starting with some sausage cutters then moving on to burgers and a heap of really juicy pork ribs. Ummmm! ;) It was around that time that we had a few martinis before finally getting back to the track to start the races.

Between the five of us, we decided to run F1 (after doing some close and exciting practice laps together with our F1 cars), Historic Saloon (HS) and Vintage Sports (VS). We qualified the F1s using our old method of a single car at a time doing three laps, but reverted to the newer method of running all cars at the same time for HS and VS.

The races were a great deal of fun, partly because everyone was in a particularly light mood with there being no work the following day. Boo had a hard time keeping his cars in the slot (except for F1) and everyone else kept crashing into his de-slotted Escort and GT40. Dougie completed the F1 races but had a lime to go to and didn't run the last HS and VS races. Luke spent some of the early part of the afternoon chipping Laird's brand new Dallara and clearly did a good job setting it up since Laird put it on pole in F1 and went on to win the class. My Escort was able to top the HS class while Luke took honors in VS.

We closed the night around 11:00 PM, some seven hours after the first cars hit the FRC circuit.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Next event's classes: American Muscle, GT, LMP - see the regulations here. BTW, this will be the last FRC event before I leave for my Le Mans holiday in France, so make your best effort to attend. Racing will resume when I return.

See you on the circuit...
Gordon

Sorry I missed the lime. The combination of the relaxed atmosphere of a Saturday afternoon/evening plus a barbecue really must have been great. Also sorry that I won't be making Le Mans this year.
