RACE REPORT #360 - July 4th 2026 (CMTBnm)

We had our second official Clubman Time Bracket event on Saturday with just four attendees. Unfortunately Peter was still fighting the flu and he couldn't be present. Steve, O'Brie, Liam and myself competed, but despite there being only four of us, we had two rounds of each of the time brackets C, B and A (slowest to fastest), with some very close and competitive racing in all six races.

Ample time was spent testing and practising our cars before going into the qualifying runs. Twenty-six cars were individually qualified over five laps each, with Steve driving eight – the most cars of the group – followed by me with seven, liam with six and O'Brie with five. We then had our first boardroom meeting break and this was followed by the first round of races for each bracket, again in slowest to fastest order. In like fashion, we had a second boardroom break and followed this by our a final round of races.

The evening ended by first packing up the track before having our third and final boardroom meeting, then leaving for our various homes around 7:00 PM.

Great racing event as usual ay FRC despite the small driver turnout. Too bad Pete wasn't feeling well and had to back out of the event at the last moment.
As usual, this class provided lots of close and exciting races, The new format where so many cars are qualified is great in my opinion. One gets to do actual timed and recorded laps in cars that might never otherwise see any kind of competitive action. One of the surprises for me was seeing how well O'Brie has gotten his Caterham to perform. Of course his star protege driver Liam was a great part of this. O'Brie's Datsuns have also come along very well. Too bad that Liam had what seems to be a pinion issue on what seems to be the better sorted of the two. Gordon's cars all performed well as was to be expected. My own cars that were raced proved quite satisfactory, the Corvette C1 winning its debut race. Two cars which I didn't race but was interested in observing their performance were the Hillman Imp and MGB roadster. Both seem to have potential for the slowest of the Clubman classes but with quite a bit more fettling needed,
Congrats to all drivers and mechanics.
Looking forward to the next event !

Gordon, some of the name in the grid listings are incorrect (eg. Peter'is shown as being a driver). It would also be nice to see the points for the individual classes.

Steve
Steve, I've fixed the driver names as well as added the lap times and points for all the cars in all the races.
