RACE REPORT #354 - February 7th 2026 (SCnm, CMnm)
Just Peter, Steve, O'Brie and I were present for our second 2026 event. About ninety percent of the time was spent testing and working on the many cars present. We had had an early boardroom table discussion about the Clubman class which is evolving quickly with the new Slot.It Datsuns as well as the inclusion of RevoSlot cars, these two having potentially significantly faster performance than many of our existing Clubman machines. In the interest of giving us opportunities to continue to competitively race the large number of these cars we own - many of which are not competitive with these quicker new cars - we're looking at breaking the class into three sub-groups based on time brackets. To start the process, we spent a significant amount of time running "qualifying sessions" for all the cars that were present for the class. This gave us a fair idea of the spread of lap times between all the cars tested. We plan to use this data to set the time brackets for the three sub-groups, tentatively named Clubman A, B and C.
We did run a single Slot.It Challenge race to start the actual racing off, followed by two clubman races, the first with the Slot.It Datsuns and the second with one of Peter's Escorts, Steve's Austin A40 and my BMC Mini Cooper. O'Brie did not stay for this final race as by this time we were running quite late, with the time going on towards 8:00 PM.
